Amazon (AMZN) AWS Remains Biggest Cloud Threat

Last week, Amazon unveiled a new data migration appliance referred to as Snowball, a large briefcase device that can transport data to AWS cloud via physical transport using UPS trucks. The paperwork processing is expedited and automated using a built-in Kindle device. This creative new offering from Amazon eliminates another cloud barrier by providing an alternative means for cloud data transfers versus relying exclusively on expensive network connections. Snowball, coupled with several new cloud services unveiled at Amazon’s re:Invent conference last week, further heightens execution risks for the old-guard.
