Red Flags – AAOI, BSX, FUN, ISRG, KNSL, POOL, RCMT, TTD
Over the past week, I started creating scripts and dashboards that pull in all sorts of data. One of those dashboards is currently set to scrape for specific 8-K filings, specific FDA announcements, and new short seller reports. Whether they ultimately amount to anything is still to be decided. However, here are some of the entries from this past week I wanted to call out:
8-K Filings
Applied Optoelectronics (AAOI) – Grant Thornton LLP was dismissed as the independent registered public accounting firm on May 4, 2026, following a competitive selection process conducted by the Audit Committee. PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP was appointed as the new independent registered public accounting firm for the fiscal year ending December 31, 2026, on the same date.

RCM Technologies (RCMT) – EisnerAmper LLP was dismissed as the independent registered public accounting firm on April 29, 2026. WithumSmith+Brown, PC was engaged as the new independent registered public accounting firm effective April 29, 2026, and will audit the company’s financial statements for the fiscal year ending January 2, 2027.
Pool Corp (POOL) – Peter D. Arvan departed as President and Chief Executive Officer of Pool Corporation effective May 4, 2026, by mutual agreement with the Company, and also resigned from the Board of Directors on the same date. Shares are down 17.9% YTD, down 37.7% on a 1-year basis, down 46.8% on a 3-year basis, and down 57.7% on a 5-year basis.
Six Flags Entertainment (FUN) – Brian Witherow, Chief Financial Officer, and Brian Nurse, Chief Legal and Compliance Officer, both departed the company effective May 8, 2026. The filing does not specify whether they resigned, retired, or were terminated. Both departed with one day’s notice after approximately two year tenures.
Trade Desk (TTD) – Samantha Jacobson, Chief Strategy Officer, resigned from her position effective May 18, 2026. Shares of TTD are down 39.2% YTD.
FDA Announcements
Boston Scientific (BSX) – The FDA is aware that Boston Scientific has issued a letter to affected customers recommending all ACCOLADE pacemakers and CRT-Ps be corrected prior to continued use. This is currently labeled a Class I recall.

Intuitive Surgical (ISRG) – A Class I recall for the company’s Surgical Stapler. “Intuitive Surgical has reported instances of incomplete staple lines after the da Vinci Surgical System returns a completed stapler fire with Gray reloads on blood vessels. Incomplete staple line formation on blood vessels will result in tissue being surgically cut and the contents of the cut vessel becoming fully exposed, causing bleeding that may require conversion to an open surgical technique. As of February 23, 2026, Intuitive Surgical has reported four serious injuries and one death associated with this issue.”

Short Sellers
Kinsale Capital Group (KNSL) – The Bear Cave was out on May 7th saying that they believe Kinsale is not a business with a durable moat and instead is powered by overpriced and exclusion-heavy insurance policies enabled by minimal regulatory oversight and a less sophisticated customer base.
